The number of women in power has been slowly increasing and replacing men in many\u00a0important positions.<\/p>\n<p>While\u00a0women make up\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.catalyst.org\/knowledge\/women-workforce-india\" target=\"_blank\">48% of the 1,2 billion people in India<\/a>, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.deloitte.com\/content\/dam\/Deloitte\/global\/Documents\/Risk\/gx-ccg-women-in-the-boardroom-a-global-perspective4.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Deloitte<\/a>, Indian women hold only around 8% of board seats and just about 3% of board chairs.<\/p>\n<p>Women\u00a0launch\u00a0only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techinasia.com\/9-women-entrepreneurs-change-india\" target=\"_blank\">9% of all Indian startups<\/a>, with\u00a0those numbers significantly decreasing in rural areas.\u00a0But all those women are considered to be the exception rather than the rule.<\/p>\n<p>In our list today, we&#8217;ll look at eleven inspiring\u00a0women who have changed the face of the Indian business scene.<\/p>\n<p>They are all authentic, with different education, experience and success stories. Initially, I had credibility challenges where I couldn\u2019t get banks to fund me; I couldn\u2019t recruit people to work for a woman boss. Even in the businesses where I had to procure raw materials, they didn\u2019t want to deal with women.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Currently, Biocon Limited employs <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biocon.com\/biocon_aboutus_peoplev1.asp?subLink=people\" target=\"_blank\">3,000 workers<\/a>\u00a0and is India&#8217;s leading innovator\u00a0with a yearly profit of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Biocon#cite_note-ref1-2\" target=\"_blank\">$54 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kiran&#8217;s net worth is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/kiran-mazumdar-shaw\/\" target=\"_blank\">$1,46 billion<\/a>,\u00a0making her the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/cms\/s\/0\/5736ca78-bceb-11e4-a917-00144feab7de.html#axzz4EBvowtj8\" target=\"_blank\">4th richest woman <\/a>in India. It gives\u00a0the government first-hand information on possible issues\u00a0and lets them repair leakages quickly by knowing exactly where they are.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>One thing I\u2019ve learned is that you\u2019re always going to make mistakes. She then found her passion in food. After tasting her first macarons in Paris, she knew that she would open up her own store.<\/p>\n<p>With initial funding from her father, she became the\u00a0owner of 6 stores across the country within a couple of years and\u00a0plans to expand further.<\/p>\n<p>At first she had to educate the Indian population on what macarons are, which meant giving away the first free samples, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/business-31292963\" target=\"_blank\">that wasn&#8217;t it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The biggest problem was to get people to take you seriously.
